Bob Shea

Communications Consultant

It’s always about the basics. "What’s the goal? Who are you trying to reach with your story and why?" If you don’t start there, it’s too easy to get lost in a collection of tactics that don’t always add up to get you where you want to go. Been there, don’t want to do that. That probably sums up one of the key lessons to date of my communications career.

What’s energizing about being part of POV-Rose Media is working with a team of pros, to apply what I’ve learned in new ways, with clients whose goals and missions are about more than simply ringing up sales. Oh, and another lesson. It’s not the technology that makes the difference. It’s getting the story right. The real story that engages and stays with the viewer, the listener, the reader. That’s the kind of work I love to do. Not easy, but worth it personally and professionally.

Jeffrey Mead

Integrated Communications Specialist
Principal; Producer/Director

I have 30 years experience telling clients’ stories and helping them achieve goals. In today’s media-saturated environment technologies come and go, but people continue to crave stories to help them make sense of their work, their lives, and their world.

The process of creating and distributing story-based media now takes place in a very altered space. We don’t think of audiences now, but engaged participants. We’re participating in both the convergence and democratization of media. Marshall McLuhan would say "I told you so."

In the brave new world where everyone can become a writer, director, editor, blogger, or webmaster, strategy is increasingly important. And professionally produced media is still required, even when it needs to feel home-made.

Creating work in the extended social media landscape builds relationships in ways we simply couldn’t before. And this makes going to work very exciting.

I look back and look forward on my career and working with clients.

Looking back, I have especially enjoyed working with clients in areas of human services; education, social services, medical and other not-for-profits. My approach has always been story-based and personal, and I have been truly honored to work with outstanding human beings as clients!

Looking forward, I am gratified that this approach to my work can be distributed far beyond the days of a typical video presentation. Now, we can get our clients’ messages out through the web and social media to greatly extend the reach of our projects. Strategically planning and executing these approaches to what we produce creates a whole other level of engagement possibilities.

Molly Cummings

Producer

I’ve always asked questions, and wanted to know the truth. Journalism and production fascinated me because I was able to take my natural curiosity and channel it into providing valuable information to large audiences.

Marcus Buckman

Motion Graphics Designer/Editor
Digital Media Specialist

I’ve been on the cutting edge of the digital media revolution since film school. As a Motion Graphics Editor, I combine aesthetics with technical knowledge, enabling our clients to leverage their video assets on constantly evolving distribution channels. Be it Hi-Def theatrical, a custom video-rich website, YouTube or iPhone, I know how to make video look its best.

In film school I learned it’s not the media but the message that’s most important. It’s great to be part of a team that embraces this principle to its core. We aim for the human connection—crafting compelling stories that engage on a personal level.

But in part, the medium is the message—with broadband and social media, audiences are no longer limited by traditional distribution methods. They can now pick and choose when and where to become engaged. And the most effective way of distributing a message, word of mouth, happens at incredible speed with often startling results.
